Resort Hotels

Resort hotels are an ideal way of getting a holiday where everything really is all done for you. Admittedly you do have to decide exactly which resort hotel to book, but everything else is served up on a plate: sometimes literally.

What can you expect?

An ideal resort hotel can cater for everything you and your family need, from dawn till dusk and beyond. There is usually a mind-boggling range of activities to choose from to delight those looking for an energetic sporty workout, to those wanting to relax, be pampered and unwind. Often a UK resort hotel chains will specialise in some particular sporting activity: golf is always popular, as is horse riding, or maybe fishing, depending on the location. Other hotels will put all their efforts into relaxation with a focus on spa treatments, beauty therapies and general pampering. Many have pools of various sizes and types, including Jacuzzis and infinity pools.

Any family members who would rather not indulge in any of the above can find their needs catered for too. Babysitting services abound, together with kids clubs, adventure parties and creative activities. For hard to please teenagers, technology is often the answer with high tech games rooms in which they can hang out with their new mates. Sometimes they can even be persuaded to try more active pursuits like archery, abseiling or swimming.

Although you would want to spend some time together, there are times when each individual will want to do their own thing and there are so many things to choose from, no one has to make any compromises.

These are not the sort of hotels where you are likely to find business travellers doing deals or other visitors simply passing through, but are aimed at the guest who has carefully researched exactly what they want from their break and know that this hotel is going to provide it.

What to eat

All this serious play time works up an appetite, so there is often a mouth watering choice of where to eat. You’ll have to choose between various restaurants, both formal and informal, to suit all tastes. There is usually an emphasis on sourcing local ingredients and providing local specialities so you can get a real flavour of the local produce. Outstanding customer service is to be expected at every resort hotel so any individual requirements are usually handled with ease.

Resort hotel chains

There are some hotel chains who have come to specialise in providing resort holidays and you may find it useful to try these specialists first. They have many years experience of serving their guests and knowing exactly what you might want, sometimes even before you know yourself. Some of these hotels offer the ultimate in luxury and, although this may be expensive, it might provide you with the holiday of your dreams and memories to last a lifetime.
